Thailand clinched the bronze medal in women’s volleyball at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, defeating South Korea 3-0 in a decisive match on Tuesday. The victory at Park Arena Komaki marked Thailand’s fourth consecutive Asian Games medal in the sport and their third bronze overall.
The match saw Thailand overcoming a strong start from South Korea, who initially led in the first set. However, Thailand’s effective attacks and robust serving turned the tide, allowing them to secure the first set with a score of 25-20. The second set was similarly competitive, with South Korea briefly taking the lead at 11-9 before Thailand regained control to win 25-19.
In the final set, South Korea once again took an early lead, but Thailand managed to level the score at 12-12. The teams remained neck and neck until Thailand reached match point at 24-23. A crucial error by South Korea handed Thailand the set at 25-23, sealing their victory and the bronze medal.
This achievement continues Thailand’s impressive streak in Asian Games women’s volleyball, having previously won bronze in 2014, silver in 2018, and bronze again in 2022. The team’s continued success also ensured their qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games following their victory in the 2026 Asian championship.
