In a recent meeting with Hà Nội’s leadership, Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm emphasized the need for the capital to boost its economic growth while focusing on sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Tô Lâm acknowledged the city’s advancements in institutional reforms and infrastructure but pointed out issues such as slower-than-anticipated growth and underused resources.
Tô Lâm highlighted the importance of overcoming these hurdles by unlocking idle resources and fast-tracking major urban projects. He urged authorities to bolster support for businesses, tourism, and innovation, as well as to improve public services. Particular attention was directed towards alleviating traffic congestion, addressing pollution, expanding housing, and investing in education, healthcare, and digital transformation efforts.
Despite these challenges, Hà Nội has demonstrated a commendable economic performance, recording an 8.22% growth in the first half of the year, surpassing the national average. The city has set an ambitious target of achieving an 11% growth in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) by 2026, reflecting its commitment to economic progress.
Tô Lâm’s call to action underscores a strategic focus on accelerating key infrastructure projects and maximizing resource utilization. The city’s leadership is expected to prioritize these areas to ensure that Hà Nội not only continues its current momentum but also addresses pressing urban challenges effectively.
