Vietnam and Canada have formalized an Action Plan to advance their Strategic Partnership, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors. This plan, adopted by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Ottawa, aims to translate previous commitments into actionable programs and projects.

The comprehensive Action Plan outlines key areas for collaboration, including political and diplomatic relations, trade and investment, science and technology, digital transformation, and healthcare. Additionally, it covers education, energy security, sustainable development, transport, infrastructure, defense and security, law enforcement, and cultural exchanges.

To ensure the effectiveness of the plan, the ministers agreed to regularly review and update it, emphasizing the need for strong coordination among government agencies, local authorities, and businesses. They also committed to reinforcing existing bilateral consultation mechanisms and exploring new dialogue frameworks of strategic importance.

During their discussions, the ministers addressed regional and international issues, agreeing to enhance cooperation through platforms such as the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC, and other multilateral organizations. Both countries also pledged mutual support for hosting future APEC meetings, with Vietnam hosting in 2027 and Canada in 2029. Additionally, Vietnam expressed its support for Canada’s hosting of the Francophonie Summit in 2028.
