In a bid to enhance security along their shared border, police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have pledged to bolster their cooperative efforts. The agreement was reached during a conference held in Tây Ninh on Friday, where officials reviewed past collaborations and outlined future strategies to combat cross-border criminal activities.

The cooperation among these provincial police forces has been characterized by regular information sharing and joint initiatives to tackle various forms of crime, including drug and human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. Officials at the conference stressed the necessity of maintaining direct communication and holding regular meetings to facilitate swift information exchange and timely resolution of cross-border crime cases.

As part of their renewed commitment, the police forces plan to strengthen patrols and enhance monitoring of border trails and crossings. This step aims to curb illegal entries and exits that could potentially support organized transnational crime. Additionally, they intend to expand their focus to include counter-terrorism efforts, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime, while also addressing emerging non-traditional security challenges.

The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, formalizing the commitment to strengthening crime prevention measures and ensuring public order in the border regions. This agreement underscores the shared responsibility of both countries to maintain peace and security along their borders.
