Thailand is bolstering its international aviation connections by forming new partnerships with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai while also enhancing regional airport infrastructure. These efforts aim to improve travel connectivity and support the country’s tourism industry.
Vietnam Airlines has introduced a new flight route between Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket, which commenced on July 2. This route will operate four times a week, providing an annual seating capacity of approximately 39,500. The initiative responds to the increased travel demand from Vietnam, a country that saw more than 300,000 of its citizens visiting Thailand in the first half of the year.
In another development, flydubai launched daily flights from Dubai to Bangkok starting July 1. The carrier plans to increase the frequency of this service to twice daily beginning September 15, thereby enhancing connectivity between the United Arab Emirates and Thailand.
In addition to these partnerships, Thailand is planning to implement the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at its regional airports. This system is designed to improve air traffic management, boost operational efficiency, and provide better access to secondary cities. Initially, the AFIS will be deployed at Phrae and Phetchabun airports by 2028, with potential future expansions to other regional airports.
