Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn recently engaged in discussions with leaders of prominent South Korean conglomerates in Seoul, advocating for increased investment in high-tech sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, energy, and sustainable development. During his meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn commended the company’s significant contributions to Vietnam through various avenues such as investment, job creation, state revenue, and support for local businesses. He urged Samsung to further amplify its investments in high-tech areas to bolster Vietnam’s economic growth.
Responding to Mẫn’s encouragement, Roh reassured that Samsung would continue to align its operations with Vietnam’s developmental priorities, emphasizing digital transformation, technological innovation, and workforce development. The company has been actively supporting Vietnamese enterprises by implementing smart factory solutions, automation, and skills-development programs, reinforcing its commitment to Vietnam’s progress.
The Vietnamese delegation also included a meeting with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, where Mẫn called for increased investment in semiconductors, AI, renewable energy, and technologies aimed at reducing emissions. He expressed his appreciation for SK’s proposal to set up a large-scale AI center in Vietnam and their interest in exploring investments in energy infrastructure and AI data centers.
In talks with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, Mẫn highlighted LG Group’s substantial investment exceeding $10 billion in Vietnam. He encouraged the company to enhance its collaboration with Vietnamese suppliers and to further strengthen technology and skills development. LG acknowledged Vietnam’s pivotal role in its global production network, underscoring the country’s strategic importance.
Additionally, Mẫn met with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, encouraging the expansion of investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, tourism, and services. He urged Lotte to expedite major projects while focusing on sustainability, green development, and adherence to ESG standards. These meetings underscore Vietnam’s strategic initiative to attract high-quality foreign investments and fortify economic cooperation with South Korea, particularly in the realms of advanced technology, energy, and digital industries.
