Thailand has recently completed the initial 1.3-kilometre stretch of a permanent border fence along its boundary with Cambodia, marking a significant step in enhancing border security. Authorities are also evaluating other potential sites along the extensive 817-kilometre Thailand–Cambodia border for future construction. The border region remains under stringent surveillance due to the history of territorial disputes that led to two bouts of armed conflict last year.
