Vietnam and Denmark have elevated their diplomatic relations by establishing a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, aiming to enhance collaboration in multiple sectors including trade, technology, and sustainable development. This new agreement marks a significant step in bilateral relations as it was announced during Vietnamese President and Communist Party General Secretary To Lam’s state visit to Denmark from October 19 to 21, 2026. The timing coincides with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Building on their previous Comprehensive Partnership established in 2013 and the Green Strategic Partnership initiated in 2023, both countries are set to intensify political dialogue and economic cooperation. Key areas of focus include renewable energy, green technology, digital transformation, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and transport. The partnership also seeks to boost business investments, strengthen supply chains, and improve market access under existing trade agreements.
In pursuit of Vietnam’s goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the countries will collaborate on climate action and energy efficiency, particularly through the development of renewable energy projects. The agreement also covers cooperation on maritime security, cybersecurity, research, vocational training, agriculture, and public health.
The two countries reaffirmed their dedication to international law and multilateral cooperation, committing to the peaceful resolution of disputes. They expressed support for regional stability, freedom of navigation, and stronger ties with ASEAN.
Action plans will be developed by both governments to implement the partnership, translating their commitments into practical cooperation and tangible outcomes.
